Happy 7th Birthday Pauly

Today our Pauly turned 7. As I think back to what I was doing 7 years ago, I am reminded of throwing up orange sherbet and almost throwing up at the smell of the meat loaf they tried to serve me for dinner. When I declined, Paul gladly accepted. My dear father who was also there and interested in the meat loaf was lucky enough to get one of the extras. I don't know who I was more upset with, the nurse who brought in yet another stinky meal into the room with a woman who had a nausea patch on and still couldn't keep down sherbet or the men in my life who sat there and ate in front of me. When I told Pauly the story he said, "ooh meatloaf, I love meatloaf; can we have that for dinner soon."Oh the irony. To say our life has never been the same since he arrived would be an understatement.

We had a good day. I cooked a big breakfast which of course had to include sausage and scrambled eggs but changed it up and made homemade waffles instead of the usual pancakes. Pauly then got a chance to play with his buddy Carter and got taken to DQ for a birthday treat. I should mention he was in sugar withdrawal from the previous days adventure with his Auntie Shelley and Uncle Don. They took him to the zoo, and he had lots of sugar I'm told. Despite a nasty fall on his scooter the night before, he spent like 7 hours touring the park. I wonder who slept better- them or him.

While Pauly was playing I made his cake. This one took quite a while, but I had fun with it. I get teased a little about my cakes, but I really do enjoy it, and I think it will be a fun memory for the kids. I just need to get more ideas.
A little later the troops came over so the "boys" could celebrate their birthday together. Thomas turns 5 tomorrow.

A handsome boy don't you think? We'll keep him.
Some new balls and game ideas; good hand-eye coordination practice.

No birthday is complete with out K'nex.
Aren't they cute? Lucy and Mary looked so innocent, and then went for it as soon as my back was turned. There was no denying it- the blue and green frosting and missing letters were a dead give away.

The birthday boys.

We love you Pauly and are so proud of all the progress you are making. You are a gift from God, a challenging gift but a gift none-the-less. We love your smile and your dry sense of humor. We pray God blesses you in this next year+.
