Baby Collin Update-YEAH!!!!!

Megan gets to move in to the hospital today where Collin will room with her and get ready for DISCHARGE! He should be coming home this coming week. God is so good, no great! Collin is over 4 pounds and is hungry, hungry, hungry. Please join us in praying for their transition home.

Happy 1 week birthday Collin

Tonight, Laura and I picked up Megan and headed to the hospital. Collin is looking so amazing. He was crying when we got there and immediately stopped when his mom cradled his head and touched his foot. It was very sweet to see him respond so quickly to her. Laura held him and them insisted that I hold him. I really needed my arm twisted; in fact I think she may have sprained something. I actually got to be his very first babysitter. I was able to rock him while they stepped out to grab a bite to eat. I was honored. Unless you hold a preemie, you really have no real concept of how tiny they are. He may be small, but he is perfect.

Tender Moments

Megan was released from the hospital yesterday, without her baby. My heart was breaking for her as I heard her recount being discharged with all the other mothers who were leaving with their babies. She is staying with family in the city, but because of her c-section, she isn't able to drive for about 2 weeks, which leaves her in the hands of others to transport her which is a helpless feeling. Both she and her husband look so exhausted and of course have no real idea of how things are going to play out. Today will be a hard day for her husband, Jesse, because he has to head back to work.

 Last night, Laura and I drove to the hospital to meet up with Meg and her husband for their first of many visits to the NICU since discharge. I cannot really understand how it must feel, but I can imagine. Baby Collin was having some digestion issues, but they seem to be resolving themself, and he is off all oxygen. For being so small, he looks so perfect and so precious.

 Laura got to hold her grandson for the very first time. They allowed me to touch him with in his little isolette, but I wasn't able to hold him becuase he was starting to drop in temp after being out. Meg really wanted me to get to hold him, but I assurred her that I am already over the moon to see him in her arms and her grandma's, so I can wait until it's safe for him. We had a nice evening. Please keep them in your prayers.

Baby Collin update

Baby Collin and mommy are doing very well. He was able to be taken off the ventilator and now just has a little oxygen to  help him remember to breath. Megan got to hold him for the first time. It was such an honor and privelege to be there to witness. Collin was very awake while in Megan's arms and responded to Jesse's voice turning toward him as he talked. Being around all these tiny babies fighting for their lives is heartbreaking and humbling; I tried to fight back the tears, but it was no use. The nurses are taking wonderful care of these precious babies; they are truly the tender hands of Christ.

Please pray for Baby Collin

My dear, dear friend Laura's daughter Megan delivered her baby Collin at just 33 weeks old. The doctors have been watching him very closely because of how small he was and found that the placenta was compromised and not providing him with enough of what he needed to thrive. Today they decided that he was doing so poorly that he needed to be born by cesarean. He was born about 5:45 this evening and weighs about 3 pounds. Megan made it through surgery fine and is recovering. Baby Collin is in the NICU and seems to be doing very well considering. He is not out of the woods yet, and this is going to be a difficult road for this young couple. Please join me in praying.
