Holy Thursday

Today the kids and I had a hands on lesson about the Last Supper, and we made our own unleavened bread. It was messy and to be honest a little chaotic for this mama who traditionally buys her bread instead of making it, but at least I didn't have to worry about whether it would rise. Despite the mess, it was such a teachable moment. I hope it leaves a memory and a clearer understanding of Mass, especially for Olivia who is preparing for her First Holy Communion. Thank you Jesus for Your Sacrifice. Thank you Jesus for the gift of yourself at every Mass.

Here's the recipie for those of you interested in making your own unleavened bread; it really was pretty simple.
2 c. flour 1/2 stick butter
3/4 c. milk 1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Cut butter into flour. Add salt and sugar, then mild. Mix into a ball. Add more flour if sticky. Pat out into circles (I did 5 per batch). Bake at 350* for 20-25 minute depending on size (I put the broil on at the last minute to make them brown).
