Here is the late Pope kneeling before the Divine Mercy image in Krakow, Poland. This is especially comforting to me today as we celebrate without my parents who are at St. Faustina's Convent in Krakow, Poland celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday. They are on a 17 day pilgrimage in Poland and Italy in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. They left this past Monday, and we are starting to feel the lack of their presence. I never realized how often I just picked up the phone to call them just to ask a question of tell them something exciting that the kids did. We have been having Sunday dinners with them for the last few months, so today on this special and most holy day I am missing them. I am so thrilled to know they are where they are, and I can't wait to hear their stories and see their treasures. St. Christopher and all the angels protect them as they are so far from home.
"You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelope the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us (Diary, 1319).
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! (84).
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy Itself. Amen (950)."
