Words to a mother's ears- NOT

I will admit that with each passing year of mothering, you begin to be able to handle certain situations better and are surprised by your ability to buck up and just deal, but there are a few things you just really would prefer not to experience and a few phrases that will make even a seasoned mother cringe when heard. One of them we heard several times last week. It was delivered with a quivery, panic like tone and goes something like this, "Moooooooooom..... I threw up." The other we heard tonight. It was also delivered in a panic like tone but is much louder and more intense. It goes something like this, "Moooooooom... George pooped in the tub!" Gabriella's versions went something like this, "Oh look a frog!" No honey, not a frog and definitely no fun. To make matters worse, I had just finished scrubbing the tub before their bath; scrubbing a tub two times in one night was just what this mom needed-NOT. I just looked at George and said "I love you." I think I'll try that every time I'd like to scream, pull my hair out, stomp, slam a cupboard door... I think you get the idea. Oh happy day! One bring spot was being able to take a nature walk today. Of course it did make Elizabeth cough so hard I thought she would throw up, but we enjoyed the fresh air and seeing a few animals out and about. Olivia just took a deep breath and said, "I just love nature." Bottom line- we all survived.
